Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS)

IMLS is an independent federal agency of the Executive Branch of the U.S. government. They foster leadership, innovation, and a lifetime of learning by supporting the nation's museums and libraries.
IMLS awards grants to museums, libraries, archives, historical societies, and institutions of higher education, public institutions or non-profits. Library and museum professionals who know the needs of communities review all IMLS competitive awards of these grants. The IMLS review process is well respected, and the success of grant programs is largely due to the expertise of their reviewers. IMLS wanted to do a better job of reviewing these grant applications.
Together, WebFirst and IMLS conceived an extensive online reviewer application to help IMLS gather information from prospective reviewers. This web-based system allows potential grantees to enter their application online, while giving IMLS administrators a real-time report of pending applications. Serving the needs of constituents and streamlining processes has become an increasingly important challenge for government agencies like IMLS. WebFirst complies with all Section 508 standards in the creation and maintenance of the IMLS website.
